Lions Recycle for Sight

to lions club vision programs
For more than 80 years, individual Lions clubs have collected used eyeglasses for distribution to the needy in developing nations. Do you have an old pair of glasses you would like to donate? Recycle for Sight Eyeglass collection boxes are located in the following Newtown locations:
Newtown High School

Cyrenius Booth Public Library

Village Eye Care (Big Y Plaza)

Dr. Roger Moore's Office

Cornerstone Thrift Shop

Eye Care Plus (Sand Hill Plaza)

Newtown Senior Center

Nunnawauk Meadows

Campaign SightFirst II
The Newtown Lions also support various organizations involved with other sight related issues. We donate to support guide dog training, the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation and the Lions Low Vision Center. All Lions clubs have been called on to participate in a program called Campaign Sightfirst II that is aimed at eliminating preventable blindness throughout the world.

Did you know that there is radio programming based in Danbury, CT that broadcasts the reading of newspapers, books and periodicals for people with impaired vision? It is through a program called CRIS that we also support. We also work with local social service organizations and the club will pay for local children’s eye exams for those that are referred to us because of need.
